WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING FACIAL?

Microneedling Facial involves implanting (specific to your skin concerns) stem cell & peptides inside the upper dermis layers of the skin, with a derma pen device. WHAT HAPPENES DURING A MICRONEEDLING FACIAL?

At Schon Aesthetic Birmingham you will have a thorough consultation, skin analysis and a treatment plan will be created for you. Photos are taken of your face. The skin is numbed and deep cleansed followed by massage and lymphatic drainage. A cocktail of serums specific to your skin renewal requirements are measured and mixed. The serums are then implanted inside the dermis layer of the skin and the existing collagen layer is broken down at the same time with a derma pen device that creates micro channels allowing thorough penetration of the serums. You are then placed under a Light Emitting Diode LED machine with specific coloured lights selected to boost your results.

AM I SUITABLE FOR MICRONEEDLING FACIAL?

Before booking Microneedling treatment, please carefully read through the contraindications below. Some pre-existing health conditions can impact the results or carry some risks. Pregnant or Breastfeeding​

Diabetes

Epilepsy

Auto-immune disease 

HIV/ AIDS or Herpes simplex

Blood disorders such as haemophilia, sickle cell anaemia, and platelet disorder

Keloids or hypertrophic scarring

Have a birth mark in the area 

Taking blood thinning medication such as aspirin, ibuprofen or similar 

Blood disease or infections

Fungal infections and severe hormonal breakouts

Uncontrolled high blood pressure or low blood pressure

Using steroids such as; Cortisone, Retin-A or Renova (or have done in the six months previous)

Taking medication such as Coumadin or Heparin or antibiotics (Get written permission from your doctor if you are using these)

Chemotherapy (Wait at least six months since your last treatment)

Experience allergic reactions with known or unknown causes regularly

Have skin conditions such as rash, blisters, scabbing, scarring, psoriasis or eczema, dermatitis 

 

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF MICRONEEDLING FACIAL?

Risks are minimal. Slight redness, irritation and sensitivity may be experienced that will subside in 72 hours

 

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE FOR MICRONEEDLING FACIAL?

The aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself.  Healing period is 7 days. Avoid touching the face with bare fingers unnecessarily. Wash hands before applying aftercare. Moisturise with aftercare cream provided and continue moisturising with Vaseline only, when feeling dry or itchy (itching is a good sign of healing) until healed. Tap the aftercare cream on do not rub it on.  Stop using your regular cleansing/ moisturising/ makeup/ brush / serums/ peeling agent products to avoid hindering the results. Use gentle, non perfumed cleansing products such as Simple gel wash or Aveeno brand.  Avoid hot baths and showers, sweating, steam room, sauna, swimming and sunbeds. Avoid consuming alcohol, taking recreational drugs and excessive amounts of coffee. Avoid picking, scratching, rubbing, injuring, sleeping on the area and change your pillow case daily. Avoid hot baths and showers. Avoid using skin peeling agents such as AHA, retinols and other peeling agents. Avoid direct sun exposure and apply SPF 50 sunscreen daily.

 

DO I NEED TO TAKE TIME OFF WORK AFTER HAVING MICRONEEDLING FACIAL?

In short, no. There is no need to take time off work

 

IS MICRONEEDLING FACIAL PAINFUL?

In short, no. Topical numbing cream is applied to ensure your comfort.
