Anesthesia and Injection

Dermal Filler Aftercare

Although there is zero downtime and you may resume your usual daily routine following dermal lip filler treatment in general the treatment healing time is 7 days. Some swelling can be expected immediately after the medical treatment. An ice pack (wrapped in a paper towel to prevent it sticking to the filled lips) can help with this, and the initial swelling will go down quite quickly. There may be minor soreness from the injections as the numbness from the topical cream wears off. You can manage this with paracetamol painkillers. We advise against ibuprofen, aspirin, blood thinner medications, Fish oil, Vitamin A & E and steroids 7 days before treatment and 7 days following treatment.

Avoid intense exercise for 2 days after your treatment. Reduced activity allows the body to heal the treated areas quicker. Avoid swimming, sauna, steam rooms and sunbeds for 7 days.  Bruising is rare but can occur and will subside within 5 days

Avoid consuming alcohol for 7 days. Avoid excessive consumption of caffeine drinks and drink hot drinks through a straw.

Drinking plenty of water also helps to keep hydrated and applying a thin layer of Vaseline to keep the lips moist.

Avoid applying makeup to the lips for 48 hours.
